How to Fix Screen Overlay Error on Android

The main thing that causes these kinds of error messages are apps like Facebook Messenger that allow small overlays to appear above other apps. Try completely closing out any apps with these kinds of small overlays.
These errors seem to appear the most when you’re opening a new app for the first time and also have an app with an overlay open.
You may sometimes see one of these boxes appear with a link that says Open Settings. Tap this link to open your Draw Over Other Apps settings menu. On this page you can manually set screen overlay permissions for individual apps. Select an app you want to change the setting for, then tap the switch to permit drawing over other apps. If the switch is grey, permission is disabled, if it’s blue/green it’s enabled.
When you’re done, close out any apps you had running in the background. Then reopen the app you were trying to use and it should work just fine! That’s all it takes to fix screen overlay errors on Android.
