Leaking showers, cracking grout, loose tiles, bad ugly installs, just a few of the problems that can happen when you hire an unqualified installer. In this video I share some of the failed tile installations that a few installers I know had to tear out and replace or repair.It is critical to have a tile shower installation done correctly to avoid leaking and the potential for extensive damage that can occur from a bad tile install and the lack of waterproofing. Same goes for a tile floor installation. Insufficient coverage of thinset, poor bonding, incorrect adhesives, inadequate substrate, excessive deflection , and on and on. Wall tile installations, floor tile, backsplash tile, wet area tile installations, Porcelain tile, ceramic tile, natural stone tiles like marble and travertine, and glass tiles, to name a few all have requirements for proper substrates, adhesives thinset coverage, installation methods and more. All this and we have not even considered the preparation and requirements for the surface to which these materials have to be installed. Qualified installers with the knowledge to install the chosen tile covering is absolutely necessary to achieve a long lasting, trouble free, aesthetically pleasing end result.
