The Magic Wand tool has a bad reputation. Mainly, because the tool is not being used properly.
The Magic Wand selects areas of colour based on a Tolerance setting you choose.
After seeing this video you will be more confident about getting good selections just using the Magic Wand alone.
I will also explain the why Anti-aliasing is not as good as it should be when using the Magic Wand.
