Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question...

Q: Can you make a video that covers how to use standard chord shapes which can be moved horizontally sliding along the fingerboard with the open strings ringing through them. I like that sliding chord sound that Pete Townshend gets in the song, "I Can See for Miles." It sounds like this chord slide idea is also happening in the Yes song, "Starship Trooper". I hope you know what I mean.
Thanks,
Desmond, Chicago IL.

A: Sliding standard chords along the fingerboard a great way to get many common open chords memorized. But, it also helps you when you feel like your songwriting is getting stale. If you're feeling stuck in a rut when it comes to inventing song ideas, the interesting chord colors you'll get from sliding shapes along the neck will definitely inspire you toward new territories of chord accompaniment.
