The story of three days in the life of Ivan, a Belarusian and Giulia, an Italian girl who escaped from captivity. During World War II, a Soviet soldier, Ivan, and an Italian girl, Giulia, escape from two camps for prisoners of war and political prisoners in the Alps. Ivan intends to make his way east and sends the girl to Italian Trieste, but she does not want to be alone and follows him. Together they spend several days and nights in the Alps, escaping pursuit until the Germans catch up with the fugitives. The dialogue between them is in different languages.
