We drop into episode 82 looking to create a mastering session for a trance track using WAVES plugins. We use the song we composed, mixed and arranged in previous episodes of the EDM Sessions.

The master is in 32 bits resolution ay 96000KHZ so in super high resolution so does the project we are working on. We first listen to the song and start by summing with the Renaissance equalizer auto gain button. The second processor is the VEQ4, we use it to boost the low end minimally and add some character.

Then we add the L2 ultramaximizer to add 2 DB of gain, this is minimal but very useful to take off the peaks off some parts of the song. We then immediately follow up with the LIN MB plugin using our custom version of the multi electro mastering setup. Following up with a API 2500 compressor again to compress and add some character.

We then enhance the song with a center to widen the signal, we skip some plugins of the chain intentionally since they are not best used in a trance track. We skip to the SSL g Channel compressor, using it again lightly to compress about -2DB. We also learn how to make a sound sandwich using the right plugins!

We complete the session with a second instance of the LIN MB using a tight opto compression setting, we close the session by using the L316 to be competitive with todays loudness war!
