3 Ways to Overcome a Tub Flange with Backer Board
This is one of the most common questions I get on Custom Tiled Tub Surrounds, "How do you handle where the tile backer board meets the tub?"
There's 3 ways to go about this
1. Set backer board on top of tub flange & fill void with sealant (if using a system like Hydro-Block)
2. Rabbit joint the backer board to overcome the flange (flange must be tight to wall & less have a flange less than 3/8" thick)
3. Shim out wall and bring board to tub deck 👍
