When it comes to adding a transparent background to subtitles in Subtitle Edit, there are a few simple steps you can follow. Firstly, open both the subtitle file and the corresponding video file. Once you have them open, it's time to change the format from SRT to Advanced Sub Station Alpha (ASS). This will ensure compatibility and allow for more advanced editing options.
With the format changed, you'll notice that all the subtitle lines have the default style. To modify the style, locate the large A button in the toolbar and click on it. This will bring up the style editor. Within the editor, select the opaque box option to add a background to the subtitles. Ensure that the dropdown menu is set to "one box use shadow color" for the desired effect. Next, choose the desired shadow color by clicking on the respective option. If you wish to make the background transparent, simply decrease the alpha value. Once you're satisfied with the changes, click on the apply and ok buttons to save them.
Now that the subtitle style has been adjusted, it's time to merge it with the video. Navigate to the video tab and select the option to generate a video with the burned-in subtitle. Click on the generate button to initiate the process, and don't forget to save the resulting video. With these steps completed, you've successfully created or added a transparent background to subtitles in Subtitle Edit while optimizing your content for search engine optimization(SEO).
