How to Flood Test a Shower pan. Leak test. The only way to know if your newly installed shower pan does not leak, is to perform a flood test. I have done countless flood tests on the pans I install whether it be a Sealed system like a Schluter Shower, Wedi Shower, Vinyl liner, Copper pan or whatever type of waterproofing used to prevent water from escaping into other areas where it can do damage. Many installer will simply assume that the pan they just installed does not leak and that it is good to go, Others don't even know what a flood test is, and some, more that you would think, simply will not hold water. Doing a flood test before installing the tile will ensure the integrity of the shower pan waterproofing. If you do a search on YouTube, you will endless examples of failed shower pans, failures that could have been prevented by doing a simple test before the tile was installed.
