A great feature of Istio is its built-in observability hooks. The Kiali project uses Istio’s metric, log and trace data, along with the Kubernetes API, to help Istio users visualize and dig into their mesh. Many users are familiar with the Kiali Graph but may not have ventured much farther than watching traffic flow through their mesh. In this talk we’ll dig a little deeper. In a series of short demonstrations we’ll show how Kiali can help you troubleshoot and isolate problems in your mesh. Users unfamiliar with Kiali will have a chance to see how the Kiali console can help them more quickly onboard Istio, avoiding costly mistakes. Seasoned users may learn about some lesser-known features, from Wizards to Envoy inspection, and discover a few troubleshooting tips and tricks.
