Surviving The Long Dark is no easy task, and the game will make it difficult for you. However, you can greatly increase your odds of survival by utilizing the different methods and skills the game offers you that can lead to your success!
Fishing can be a super rewarding way to... spend a cold day. It's not exactly the best method for collecting food, however. Compared to hunting, snaring or stoning rabbits, and collecting wild foods like cattails, fishing has some of the highest upfront costs associated with it for some of the least rewards when it comes to calories gained. That doesn't make fishing a no-go ever, but it does change the way you need to think about your priorities. The biggest factors to weigh in on ice fishing in The Long Dark is your current ice fishing skill and the difficulty mode at which you're playing!
