Mega Man X2 is a classic action-platformer released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) by Capcom in 1994. It is the second game in the Mega Man X series and builds on the mechanics and storyline of the original Mega Man X game. Players take control of X, navigating through eight Maverick stages, defeating bosses, and collecting upgrades. Players can choose the order in which to tackle the Maverick bosses, each of which grants a weapon upon defeat. Each boss has a specific weakness to another boss's weapon, encouraging strategic gameplay. Mega Man X2 used the special CX4 chip to enable limited 3D wireframe effects, showcased in some boss battles and cutscenes. Three sub-bosses—Agile, Serges, and Violen—known as the X-Hunters, can appear throughout the game.
