This video takes a brief look at citations and references for three common referencing styles: APA, Harvard and MLA.

A citation (also called in-text citation) is a specific source used in the main body of a text. It is short-hand format, as it does not contain full biographical information. A reference (also called work cited) is the long-hand format of the in-text citation, giving the full biographical details, such as author, publisher/URL, title, etc. It is contained in the Reference Section (also called Works Cited List) at the end of the work, and allows the reader to find the text easily.

The video is part of the EAP Shorts series of videos from EAPFoundation.com, which provides brief overviews of different aspects of English for Academic Purposes.
