The 83,000-strong Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic represents the third largest ethnic-minority in the country. The first generation of Vietnamese were sent here as indentured workers, as a form of payment for the country’s help in the war. Following the fall of communism, these Vietnamese began establishing their own businesses. They made their children learn Czech and gave them new opportunities. A whole new generation of Czech-Vietnamese is breaking new ground, veering away from the traditional jobs, embracing their heritage and showcasing the best of diversity and integration.
