An easy way to increase learner engagement is to give learners opportunities to personalize their learning experience. And letting them choose an avatar or custom character that best represents them is one of the easiest (and most popular) ways to design more personalized, and engaging, courses.
Technically, this is a simple process. Using a single variable (usually text or number) in Articulate Storyline 360, you can dynamically change an object’s state to show a specific character. The design challenge is finding unique ways to present a series of characters learners can choose from.
