How to Create Dispersion Effect in Photoshop
The dispersion effect is a really unique effect in Photoshop and can be done with a simple brush and a couple of masks and filters. In this video, I’ll show you step-by-step creating a dispersion effect in Photoshop.

Open your image in Photoshop.
Cut out the person from the background using the background selection tool.
You can refine your selection.
When done, create a new layer from the selection.
Use the crop tool to increase the size of the canvas.
Add a gradient layer and choose the default black-and-white gradient.
Pick radial and reverse it and scale it up to 250. Move it down a bit.
Move the gradient layer under the subject layer.
Duplicate the subject layer. Control or Command + J
Choose the previous subject layer. Use filter/liquify.
Use the forward warp tool and use a large brush to extend your subject to one side.
Apply a mask to this layer. Hold the option or alt and click layer mask on that layer.
Turn the top subject layer back on and add a regular mask to it.
Select that new while layer mask and click the brush tool. Right-click and choose the brush setting and click import brushes (load brushes in older Photoshops)
Download the brush in the description and select it here to import it.

Choose one of the brushes that you choose.
Change your foreground color to black and paint on the side.
Select the mask of the middle layer and change your brush to white.
When you are done, add a gradient mask to the top and choose a soft light blend.
