Vultures have some pretty remarkable adaptations. For one, they have excellent eyesight that helps them spot carrion from way high up in the sky. They can also smell really well, which makes it easy to detect the smell of dead animals, even from a distance. And they have bald heads and necks so that it's easier to stay clean after eating a messy meal. They're smart too. They use the warm currents in the sky to cover large areas without having to flap their wings too much and waste energy.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these bald birds! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many lesson plans about animals, full of activities, worksheets, and more!
