This has been one of the most valuable lessons in drawing for me, and it applies in so many ways. Students have often asked questions like, “how did you see this form or that line or that line or shape?” And much of it I attribute to learned seeing. If you look enough you eventually learn what to look for.
But key is also studying other artists, especially if you aspire to create work like them or just understand and appreciate their process. Learn how they see, how they take specific information from what they look at.
