The maelstrom has roots in Night city as far back as 2020. It was formed by the last of the Metal Warriors gang, A gang that was more or less wiped out by the metal warriors gang. The few members that survived the onslaught rebranded and drafted members from smaller gangs in Night City, primarily The Red Chrome Legion and the inquisitors, both of which already had long standing grudges with the Metal Warriors.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an up and coming activity pretending computer game created and distributed by CD Projekt.
