In 2024, Japan announced it would allow joint parental custody. For years, under its sole custody laws, only one parent had legal authority over a child after divorce, resulting in abductions of children and parents being cut off from seeing their kids.
Paul fought for his kids all the way up to Japan’s high court and won but he says the system still failed him.
