A Hong Kong tourist died and three others were injured following a collision between a train and two cars in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
According to reports, the train was traveling towards Beaufort carrying some 200 passengers while the car, carrying four people, two women and two men, was traveling towards the international airport.
As the car approached a crossing with a malfunctioning gate, a guard gave the signal to stop, but the driver failed to brake in time.
The train driver pulled the emergency brake but the train smashed into the car, causing it to spin several times and hit another car carrying three passengers, including a toddler.
The driver of the first car died while the other passengers suffered minor injuries.
Passengers in the second car and on the train were uninjured.
According to the Borneo Post "This is the second train accident reported along the Tanjung Aru-Papar railway track within two years.
