New Porsche 911 GT3 sub-7 minute Nordschleife lap | onboard
The new Porsche 911 GT3 has just been unveiled - full details at www.goodwood.com/grr – and already we have a taste of exactly what it’s like from onboard! Join test driver Lars Kern for a super-fast lap of the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, which chopped an astonishing 17 seconds from the old car’s previous standard.
The new GT3 is faster than it’s predecessor (as you would expect) with 10PS more from its 4.0-litre flat-six engine, at 510PS, and 10Nm more (470Nm), all while revving to a stunning 9,000rpm. That means it’ll hit 62mph in just 3.4 seconds – which you can believe after watching this lap.
The 911’s flat-six engine also sounds as wonderful as ever as Kern hurls the GT3 round the twists and turns of the famous Eifel circuit, extracting absolutely everything he can out of the latest 992, topping out at 286km/h on the back straight.
