Austenitic steels. When it comes to them, almost everyone prefer x-ray inspection because of one well-known feature – high level of ultrasound attenuation, and this really can cause some issues. But we don't run from problems, we defeat them. 👊 So we've developed a methodology and procedure for inspection of such objects using phased array technology.
The video shows the inspection of a austhenitic pipe diameter 60 mm, thickness 5 mm. TWN-10 scanner + low-profile phased probe + Alfascan 3 32:128PR+2TOFD flaw detector in action.
This solution enables safe inspection without any x-ray exposes, while maintaining 100% reliable inspection results.
