The action takes place in Turkestan in 1920. Through the narrow and deserted streets of Bukhara at night, the voice of the watchman can be heard: "Everything is calm in sacred Bukhara!" But how deceptive is this calm! Bukhara is gripped by intense struggle. The last emir of Bukhara, nicknamed the "Black Consul" for the executions, for the blood that flows on his orders, is struggling to keep power in his hands.
