My son and I head out for some more bushcraft cooking and cook up steak, peppers and bannock on the fire. Other than the bannock, I forgo a pan or skillet to try a bit of caveman cooking, laying the meat and pepper right on the coals.
Believing that you learn something every time you cook on a fire, this outing was no different. What did I learn? That you don't have to cook your steak very long. It came out good but was well done and I personally like my steak on rare. Also, I should have started the bannock first. It came out great however I believe this contributed to my leaving the meat cooking on the fire longer.
