Anders Åslund: Time is running out for Putin | Ukraine This Week
World-renowned economist Professor Anders Åslund predicts a near-collapse of the Russian economy due to mounting financial and demographic challenges. Despite Vladimir Putin's claims that the sanctions have strengthened the country, Aslund says they are actually reducing Russia's GDP by around 2-3% per year. In mid-September, Ukrainian military intelligence reported that it had obtained Russian documents suggesting that the Kremlin wants to request peace at the end of 2025 for economic reasons.
