Howard explains that we don’t have a typewriter in our shop for National Typewriter Day (June 23)
June 23rd is National Typewriter Day! This day commemorates when the typewriter was first patented on this day in 1868.
For today, we thought we would address something that is sometimes mistaken for a typewriter in our print shop exhibit: the keyboard on our Model 8 Linotype, which was made in 1913. In this video, Howard explains the layout of the Linotype’s keyboard and its use.
