Comping is a common practice when producing vocals. When comping a track you choose the best parts of each take to construct a solid vocal track. The difficulty in this is keeping your session organized, keeping track of each individual take and where the best parts are within each take. To make this easier Pro Tools offer a playlist function which stores multiple takes under one track to make it easy for the engineer or producer to audition and comp them on the fly. In this video Audio Engineer Bryce Zabric explains how to take advantage of the playlist function to create solid vocal comps.
