Microcom currently uses AMI over HTTP as a reliable message queue for Asterisk event broadcasts for realtime management of multiple Asterisk servers.
This tutorial will go over the use of AMIty http://github.com/whardier/AMIty to create a reliable message handler that can perform:

React to custom events
Dispatch other programs based on specific call information
