Welcome to another Embers of Empire Developer Log! Embers of Empire is an Space Combat Sim / Adventure Game built in Unreal Engine. It's still early days by the idea is to have a story driven game with space dogfighting like Wing Commander or Freespace as well as some more first person rpg / shooter elements with out of ship gameplay.
This month I had a lot going on so my dev time was pretty limited. I did get to do some #blocktober work which gave me a chance to explore what the FPS aspects of the game might be.
I played around with blocking out the settlement on the starting planet Dust. Its a bit inspired by Star Wars desert planet settlements so I've been working towards that style - not super apparent in the block out of course.
The vision for the game is space combat as well as first person aspects like first person adventures on planets and in space stations. While I've been focused on getting some of the core space combat stuff worked out, I was really excited to explore the first person shooter style level design by blocking out the level.
