Tanks are the key element in capturing a territory. Unless tanks enter a territory, whatever the strategy, the result is a failure.

Ukraine has so far resisted the Russian tank invasion very effectively, even if it has not been able to defend all the territories.

For nearly three years now, the Ukrainian army has not yielded to Russia, which has a much stronger military force than it.

The main achievement behind this resistance has been the successful blocking of Russian tanks.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has led to significant Russian tank losses, with an estimated 3 thousand to 8 thousand tanks destroyed or captured.
The monitoring site Oryx has visually confirmed 3 thousand 387 casualties, but the actual figures could be much higher.

Early in the conflict, Ukrainian forces effectively used anti-tank missiles, drones and mines to repel Russian armored attacks.
The first phase of the battle was fought with powerful anti-tank missiles such as the Javelin and attack drones such as the Bayraktar TB2.
The biggest challenge for Russian tanks was against Ukrainian anti-tank weapons, especially mines.

The mines worked best and became a nightmare for Russian tanks and armored vehicles.
However, as the clashes progressed, Russian tactics improved and countermeasures against landmines and drones increased.
While landmines and drones worked well in intense fighting, they were not a complete deterrent in guerrilla warfare and tactical supremacy.
Nevertheless, the loss of Russian tanks and armored vehicles to mines has steadily increased.

So why are so many Russian tanks falling victim to Ukrainian mines?
