Behind the Scenes of My YouTube Studio
Over the past few years, I have had several requests to show my studio setup. In order to do this, I would have to do a vlog-like video of me walking around with a camera. While I am fine talking to a camera, it always felt weird walking around and talking to it, but I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone.
It helped that I am incredibly passionate about video. I am passionate about learning development, but even before doing that, I was passionate about creating videos. I started in high school creating stupid videos with my friends, and then after high school, I started my first business doing wedding videos. I started a degree in video production but switched to web development when I realized that video was mostly going to the web (Yes I am that old). I also got my first job in the eLearning world, showing people how to use eLearning software.
While learning how to do web and eLearning, I wanted to share what I was learning, so I started making videos again. I really wanted to start teaching my passions, so I started producing videos. I created courses for Udemy and Pluralsight, all by making videos.
I started this YouTube channel 12 years ago but mostly made screen recordings. I decided to grow the channel three years ago and be on camera. That started me on this adventure. In the first part of this video, I start walking through my different studios, showing you lessons learned along the way and how I only started with a little. I have been hungry to improve at video, so I started watching other people's YouTube studios and diving into the gear you need to produce quality videos. Video production and my studio setup have almost been an obsession (maybe unhealthy?).
So, I decided to dive into my awkwardness and try out this video of me walking you around the studio and talking about my setup. I love talking about video, so if you want to see more of these kinds of videos, let me know, and I may share more about video production.
