The Leyland Mini 1000 Mark IV is a small car produced by British Leyland and was the last version of the classic Mini before the introduction of the new MINI by BMW. It was produced from 1976 to 1980 and was essentially a facelifted version of the previous Mark III model.
The Mark IV was available in both saloon and estate versions and featured a number of changes compared to its predecessor. The most notable of these was the introduction of larger square-shaped headlamps, a revised grille with a central badge, and new rear lights. Other changes included a redesigned dashboard and new seats.
Under the hood, the Mark IV was powered by a 998cc four-cylinder engine, which produced 38 horsepower and 48 lb-ft of torque. This engine was paired with a four-speed manual transmission and was capable of propelling the car to a top speed of around 75 miles per hour.
Despite its relatively low power output, the Mini was renowned for its nimble handling and lively performance and was a popular choice among driving enthusiasts. It also enjoyed a long and successful production run, with over 5 million Minis being sold worldwide before production finally ended in 2000.
