Mocha Island Seeps (Deep Seeps) | SOI Divestream 744 PART 2

This dive is based on Bottom Simulating Reflector (BSR) detection off Mochas Island by Vargas-Cordero et al. (2018) and shipboard acoustic bubble detection during our expedition. While very shallow seeps are known at Mocha Island, no direct seafloor exploration has occurred at the deep areas off Mocha Island. Please be on the lookout for evidence of seepage (bubbles, carbonates, microbial mats, clams, tube aggregations, nearby corals etc), and use of the site by commercially harvested fish and invertebrates. Studies here could inform management of deeper waters.
