Custody Exchange Quickly Escalates
On October 1, 2023, LAPD officers from the Harbor Division were called to a child custody dispute involving Miesha Scott. After the custody was peacefully resolved, Scott allegedly drove her vehicle towards a victim and an officer, hitting the victim. An officer-involved shooting occurred when she drove towards another officer. Scott fled but was apprehended after a vehicle pursuit, which ended with her crashing into a tree. She was arrested and booked for attempted murder and assault. No officers or bystanders were injured. The incident is under investigation by the LAPD's Force Investigation Division to determine the appropriateness of the use of deadly force.
