The story of friendship between a little boy living in the steppe and a wolf cub. They grow up together, play pranks and play together. They are friends, not knowing that humans and wolves are enemies. The child's heart does not accept the ruthlessness and cruelty of the adult world. When people want to kill a grown-up animal, the boy releases a friend into the wild. After many years, they meet again.
