The film takes place in the spring of 1923. The head of the special department of one of the fronts - the old revolutionary Vaclav Kalinovsky - decides to throw his employee into the headquarters of the most dangerous of the leaders - the Basmach Rustam Bek. The operation of the security officers is carried out in the strictest confidence; only Kalinovsky personally knows the intelligence officer Mirzo-Akhmad. And only he knows the code of the reports - the ancient language of grains, flowers and grass stems. But suddenly the old security officer dies of a heart attack. Left without communication, alone with the Basmachi, Mirzo-Ahmad decides to take the extreme step...
