Since Donald Trump’s inauguration as U.S. president some say the post-WW2 world order has fundamentally changed. The U.S. seems to be pursuing an agreement with Russia to end the war with little thought as to how to cement a lasting peace. Europe has been left scrambling to define its own future security. The notion that the U.S. is a reliable guarantor of European security has been fundamentally shaken to the core. Today European leaders are meeting in Brussels to try to define the scope of how to ensure the continent’s own security while continuing to assist Ukraine.
