According to the latest data from WIPO’s Global Innovation Index 2024, China and the United States are home to the greatest number of science and technology clusters.
While Tokyo-Yokohama and Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou still top the ranking of local concentrations of science and technology activity, shifts among the top 100 show strong growth of clusters in emerging economies.
Science and technology clusters are geographical areas with the highest density of inventors and scientific authors, based on patent-filing activity and scientific article publication.
