Did you know what this was?
I was always bad with photography terms until I started to educate myself more. So what is shallow depth of field? To put it simply, shallow depth of field is when you use a low f stop like f/1.2 or 1.8 to get a blurry foreground / background. Those blurry backgrounds in portraits that we all love? Yeah. That's shallow depth!
There is also great depth of field. That is essentially bumping up your f stop to about f/8 to achieve a sharper image. You will typically find this in landscapes and not so much portraits. Higher f stops for portraits mean a not so blurry background 😫
What terms confused you?
