Trading in the big smoke for off-grid living in Tapawera | GridFree
Sasha and Andrew were really feeling the stress of high expenses while trying to raise their young family in Auckland, NZ. They made a brave choice, moving from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke down to off grid living in the peaceful town of Tapawera, near Nelson - and they have never looked back! Andrew can now work as he fondly describes as 'gentlemen hours' (9-3:30pm). The family time and being away from the 'frantic beings' from the big city has afforded the young family time to build a deeper connection together.
One of their favourite things that they have noticed living in a small town is that people have more time to build genuine connections compared to Auckland. They love that their kids are being raised with more thoughtfulness about energy consumption. Overall Sasha and Andrew believe they are curating a better lifestyle for their young family.
