While this Amazon Sales Ranking Calculator is easy to use and will adequately take the Kindle Best Sellers rank and turn it into something of use, it does have its limitations.
To best understand how much money a competitor is making, you need to track their rank number over time. Futhermore, the best seller rank is changes just about hourly and is a weighted number - meaning that what happened in the past will have an effect on the current number. So, as you can see, this isn't perfect.
Also, understand that this only works for Kindle books and not physical books. So, make sure the Amazon Best Seller Rank you grab is the one for the kindle version. In time, we hope to create a KDP Sales Rank Calculator V2.0 and include that, but I'll need to compile all the numbers before we can program something like that.
