Forty-five dollars, a few plastic containers, and a dream. This is how Ghanaian entrepreneur Violet Amoabeng began her all-natural skincare line, Skin Gourmet, which uses locally-sourced ingredients that are so pure that the products themselves are edible.
The ninth episode of WIPO’s Mission Imagination series features Violet Amoabeng, CEO of Skin Gourmet, who shares insights on the value and potential of small businesses in cultivating social and economic growth, and the importance of leaning into a community-based approach.
In conversation with Matilda Frimpong, News and Media Division, WIPO, Violet takes us through her entrepreneurial journey from her aha moment to her current plans on further expansion, her challenges and victories along the way, the role that intellectual property plays in her business, and her impact-driven entrepreneurial vision.
“It's about the long-term impact you're making on the world. And if it means that much to you because you know that it is beyond you, you will find any solution, and overcome every single barrier”, Violet says.
