Paraguay Joins WIPO's Nairobi Treaty and Vienna Agreement
WIPO Director General Daren Tang welcomes Paraguay's accession to the Nairobi Treaty and Vienna Agreement.
The Nairobi Treaty protects the Olympic symbol – five interlaced rings – against use for commercial purposes (in advertisements, on goods, as a mark, etc.) without the authorization of the International Olympic Committee.
As a member of the Vienna Agreement, Paraguay will join international efforts for marks that consist of, or contain, figurative elements, making it easier for brand owners to obtain protection for their marks.
Joel Talavera, National Director, National Directorate of Intellectual Property (DINAPI) of Paraguay, deposited the instruments of accession with WIPO Director General Daren Tang on November 25, 2022.
