😎 Have you ever used the eyedropper tool to sample a gradient, and your gradient gets applied to every little item individually? All you want is for your gradient to apply to the whole design!
Turns out it’s pretty easy.
CTRL/CMD+8 is your friend here. Or go to Object - Compound Path - Make.
This ‘unifies’ your design so the gradient applies itself to the whole thing.
N.B. Make sure you make a duplicate of your design before you make it a compound path. Because when you release it (Object - Compound Path - Release) it’ll fill every little ‘hole’ or enclosed space in your design, which you’ll then need to cut away again. So be careful when you use it on outlined text, otherwise it’ll fill the ‘counters’ of letters like ‘O’, ‘R’, ‘A’, etc. 👍
