🌾Iterative grain process in Adobe Illustrator!
1. Duplicate your shape over the top by pressing CMD/CTRL+C and F, and make the top shape your grain colour.
2. In your transparency window, with the top shape selected, press ‘make mask’, then ‘clip’ and then select the right box to go into mask mode.
3. Draw a box over the top with the rectangle tool, then make this a black and white, linear gradient.
4. Go to Effect - Texture - Grain. Changed to ‘stippled’ and press OK.
5. Press G for the gradient tool and you can tweak to your liking!

N.B. If you find that you suddenly can’t select your shape, just keep an eye your mask selection in your transparency window. Select the left box again to get it working. 👍
