In many ways, the second quarter of 2024 was disappointing for Central Europe. The Czech economy's growth is very weak. The Hungarian economy actually shrunk quarter to quarter. In this respect, Slovakia is a bit of an outlier, with the GDP growing by 1.9% - but still short of market expectations. Vladimír Vaňo, chief economist at Globsec, helps us understand what the main challenges for growth in Slovakia are and tells us about the outlook for the rest of the year and beyond.
